Every time you request a ride, Kapten may place a temporary hold of funds on your account to confirm that your payment method is valid. This is called an a pre-authorisation.
The pre-authorisation may show as a "pending" charge on your account's payment method, and will be for the value of the ride you have booked.
When the trip is completed, the pre-authorisation is converted into a charge to your bank account or credit card.
If the ride is cancelled, Kapten will quickly void the pre-authorisation. When the pre-authorisation is voided, it may take a few days to a week for you to see the pending line transaction on your bank statement disappear. The time it takes depends on your bank's policy, so if you would like to enquire about a specific transaction on your statement, please contact your bank directly.
Please note that if you are using the Flexible Ride option to make an additional stop or detour during your ride, Kapten will pre-authorise £30 to your card, to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the extended ride.
